Funding African Children's Education, Inc., Website
My Role
Information architecture, interface design, XHTML, CSS, content editing, usability evaluation, content maintenance
Project Overview
This small nonprofit, which gave scholarships to secondary school children (in several African countries) who would have otherwise been unable to continue their schooling, needed a website that established a feeling of trustworthiness and connection for current and potential donors. I originally hand-coded the website using text from the organization's president.
Because the organization had very little operations money, I donated my services pro bono and harnessed free and easy-to-use web applications, such as imported Flickr photo galleries, whenever possible to make maintenance simpler. I eventually moved the website into a Wordpress install as the president became more comfortable with blogging and updating the site herself.
Funding African Children's Education, Inc., unfortunately closed its doors in late Fall 2008 because of the American economic downturn.
